The Rough and Tragic End

The end of our season was one of triumph, ending undefeated in conference with a national rank of number two in the nation. Since we finished first in our conference undefeated we were given a buy for the first round waiting to play the winner of Mary-Hardin Baylor or Hardin Simmons. Upon finding out that Hardin Simmons was the victor we were kind of disappointed to not have the opportunity to have our revenge on Mary-Hardin Baylor for the season opener. We were confident with our situation considering the fact that we had already defeated Hardin Simmons four to nothing at the beginning of the year. Among the freshman only one of us were selected to dress out so the rest of us were left to sit off to the side under the score board. The team went through its usual preparations preparing for the game ahead once again confident of the outcome that was to become of what was suppose to be an easy game. The game begun as expected as we dominated the game, having a few scoring opportunities that should have been put, while allowing Hardin Simmons zero shots on goal. The game continued in this fashion as we continued to not be able to score and allowed Hardin Simmons to stay in the game. The problem we had the entire year of not scoring and allowing other teams to stay in the game was occurring again, and to our dismay the first shot of Hardin Simmons went in. At this point in the game we attempted to push another man forward to allow us to tie the game up and sadly backfired as they were able to score on their second shot of the game putting us away. At this point we knew the game was over but the players on the field continued to fight until the end. The Trinity men's soccer team's season ended on that fateful day putting an end to what should have been a great journey. Two shots two goals, what a way to go out.
