The Glory Road

Trinity University Men's Soccer has begun to fulfil every ones expectations. We have remained undefeated since the fateful Mary Hardin-Baylor season opener and look to continue on our stride. After coming back from the many road trips we had a series of home games that began to boast our confidence. Sadly we continued to struggle to score goals even though we out shot all of our opponents by more than two to one. We are about at the midpoint of our season at this time and have begun to prepare for the Southwestern game, with high stakes on the line. Since we have an undefeated record of 4-0 in conference, this game is key to taking the conference title for the thirteenth time in fourteen years. Heading into the game we knew what was at stake and knew that Southwestern would be coming for us, because they see us as their rivals in soccer. Training that week became intense knowing what would be coming and everyone was giving their best effort knowing that how we practice would carry over to the field. As game day rolled up we became energetic and eager to play, only being able to wait for what was to come. Upon kickoff we came out with a bang, dominating the first half with Ben Grossman scoring a goal in the twenty eight minute. The second half was an entirely different story. The second half started poorly conceding a goal in the fifty second minute, but we were quick to respond with Ben scoring another goal only six minutes later. We continued to play badly but it looked like we were going to be able to hold them off when we let them score another goal in the eighty fifth minute. The game then went into double overtime and with only five minutes away from a tie senior team caption Alan Llobet scored a goal to end the game. This was a key victory enabling what was to come. Since then we have won all our games and clenched the conference title with two more games remaining before playoffs.
