2009 Preseason

The Trinity Men's soccer team meets at the school on August 18 to begin training for the 2009 season. After moving in and finishing up NCAA required physicals the team was sent to bed early preparing for the next day full of rigorous activity. Our preseason started out with a bang. The coaches rank the entire team’s fitness by requiring us to perform four strenuous runs throughout the two a days, and whoever has the least amount of points based on what you finish is the winner, and is rated as first in fitness. The first day started out with the Cooper Test, this is a three mile run that is required to be finished in less than eighteen minutes, but since the coaches felt that we should run a shorter distance they decided to require us only to run two miles but that they expect the times to be that much better. I ended up running the two miles in eleven minutes exactly putting me in tenth place receiving ten points. Immediately after the run we walked over to the soccer fields and had a very demanding two hour practice. At this point we all were extremely exhausted and the majority of us went back to our rooms and took naps, because we had another two hour practice that night. The next three days followed the same schedule but with a different run everyday. Thursday we had a run called stinkers which involves running around two flags forty yards away two times to complete one run, which we had to do four times. Friday was a four hundred an eight hundred and then another four hundred and Finlay, Saturday was the beep test. I ended up finishing fourteenth overall with an accumulated score around sixty. Throughout those four days we were very cautious about what we ate and how we recovered between each practice. Everyone was hurting but that is just apart of what you must go through to be part of the Trinity Soccer team. We continued are preseason practices until August 31 preparing and working hard everyday balancing school and soccer and friends. Trinity soccer is one of the best programs in the nation not just because of the quality of our players but because of the amount of work we put in.
